Social, cultural, environmental, and civic activities - a focus in a successful European partnership meeting of ASWM

The Association of South-Western Municipalities was the host of the successfully completed partnership meeting under the project "Building Partnerships for Democratic Europe - BRIDGE", the European Project, part of the "Europe for Citizens 2014-2020" programme.

The main theme of this project is to promote cross-border citizenship and cross-border social cohesion, as well as to share best practices among neighboring partners. Each organization involved will need to be able to develop strong and effective cross-border practices to share with other partners during the five foreseen meetings.

BRIDGE partnership is composed by organizations that belong to two different Countries but that are situated on the border with each other, in particular: Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal– Tomiño, Spain; Association of South-Western Municipalities, Bulgaria – Dimitrovgrad Serbia; Nova Gorica, Slovenia and Gorizia, Italy; Government of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, Hungary - Roznava, Slovakia; Panevezys, Lithuania - Daugavpils, Latvia; non-governmental organizations from Italy and Cyprus.

During its 24 months of duration, the Project foresees five different events in the venues chosen during the design phase.

The fourth and penultimate event took place from 19th to 23rd June in Bulgaria and Serbia, where ASWM, member municipalities, and partners have presented successful projects and good practices in the field of social, cultural, environmental, and civic activities.

Project ideas for expanding and upgrading existing partnerships are in the preparatory phase.
