ASWM initiates the establishment of a network for prevention and response to natural and environmental hazards

Representatives of the municipalities - members of ASWM, territorial fire brigades and voluntary formations from the cross-border region between South-western Bulgaria and South-eastern Macedonia, took part in a working meeting to establish a cross-border network for prevention and response to natural and environmental hazards.

The workshop was held on 26th November and 27th November in city of Strumica, Republic of Northern Macedonia. And it is part of the activities of the "Cross-Border Cooperation in Forest Fire Fighting" project, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program Republic of Bulgaria - Republic of Northern Macedonia.

Within the newly established network, six initial and subsequent specialized trainings will be conducted, including, in addition to theoretical training there will be and "on the field"trainings. 

Personal protective equipment, protective clothing and other firefighting equipment will be provided to all municipal territorial fire brigades and voluntary formations.

Two large-scale information campaigns are forthcoming. One will be to promote volunteering and the other to prevent risk and prevent forest fires. The activities will be implemented in 26 municipalities in the cross-border region.
